Description

The Cherne 6" End-of-Pipe Gripper (part #270-261) is a mechanical test plug for 6" sewer and DWV pipe — rated for 17 PSI / 40 ft. head pressure. It seats at the pipe end and won’t fall in, even in vertical installations. Fits 6" Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC, ABS, and cast iron pipe (usage range 5.77"–6.08" ID). At 1.00 lb and 3-3/4" long, it handles the step up to commercial and municipal pipe sizes. Glass-reinforced ABS body with natural rubber O-ring — mechanical wing nut, no inflation needed.

Key Features

  • End-of-pipe design — seats at the pipe end and cannot fall in during testing
  • 17 PSI / 40 ft. head pressure — meets code requirements for DWV and sewer air tests
  • Mechanical wing nut expansion — no inflation needed, no gauge to carry
  • Natural rubber O-ring — seals round and out-of-round pipes with excellent memory
  • Zinc-plated hardware — carriage bolt and extra-large wing nut resist rust and corrosion

Applications

Commercial and municipal DWV testing on 6" sewer mains, stack testing in multi-story buildings, sewer air pressure tests, and temporary isolation during pipe repairs. The end-of-pipe design prevents the plug from sliding into the line during setup.
