Description
The Cherne 3" End-of-Pipe Gripper (part #270-237) is a mechanical test plug for 3" DWV and sewer pipe testing. It seats flush at the pipe opening and won’t fall in — rated for 17 PSI / 40 ft. head pressure. Fits 3" Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC, ABS, and cast iron pipe (usage range 2.80"–3.10" ID). At 0.40 lb, it’s a practical field tool for residential and light commercial plumbing inspections. Glass-reinforced ABS body with natural rubber O-ring — mechanical wing nut expansion, no inflation or gauge required.
Key Features
- End-of-pipe design — seats at the pipe end and cannot fall in during testing
- 17 PSI / 40 ft. head pressure — meets code requirements for DWV and sewer air tests
- Mechanical wing nut expansion — no inflation needed, no gauge to carry
- Natural rubber O-ring — seals round and out-of-round pipes with excellent memory
- Zinc-plated hardware — carriage bolt and extra-large wing nut resist rust and corrosion
Applications
DWV pressure testing on 3" drain lines, stack testing, residential and commercial plumbing inspections, and temporary pipe blockage during renovation or repair. Choose the End-of-Pipe model over the Inside-of-Pipe when you only need to seal at the pipe opening.
