Description
The Cherne 1-1/2" End-of-Pipe Gripper (part #270-210) is a mechanical test plug for small-diameter DWV pipe testing. It seats at the pipe end and cannot fall in — rated for 17 PSI / 40 ft. head pressure. Fits 1-1/2" Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC, ABS, and cast iron pipe (usage range 1.48"–1.65" ID). The compact 0.13 lb design is easy to carry in a tool bag for residential service calls. Glass-reinforced ABS body with natural rubber O-ring — wing nut expansion, no inflation needed.
Key Features
- End-of-pipe design — seats at the pipe end and cannot fall in during testing
- 17 PSI / 40 ft. head pressure — meets code requirements for DWV and sewer air tests
- Mechanical wing nut expansion — no inflation needed, no gauge to carry
- Natural rubber O-ring — seals round and out-of-round pipes with excellent memory
- Zinc-plated hardware — carriage bolt and extra-large wing nut resist rust and corrosion
Applications
Residential DWV testing, stack testing on 1-1/2" waste lines, and air testing on small-diameter sewer connections. The end-of-pipe design is the right choice when you only have access from one direction and need a plug that won’t fall into the line.
