The Complete Well Plug Lineup
Every plug we carry uses an all-nylon expansion design — no metal parts to corrode in aggressive groundwater chemistry. Turn the wing nut, the gasket expands, and you get a liquid-tight seal that holds through years of freeze-thaw cycling and field exposure.
Plug Types
Torquer — The industry standard. Wing-nut expansion, padlock-compatible. Also available as vapor extraction versions.
FlushLock — Sits flush with the casing top. Proprietary key for removal. For paved areas and roadways.

What are the different types of well plugs?
The main locking styles are the Torquer (wing-nut expansion, padlock-compatible), FlushLock (sits flush with the casing top, keyed removal), and J-Plug and H-Plug (keyed access with added tamper resistance), all by Koby Environmental. We also carry Cherne mechanical plugs and Emco options — 50 plugs in total across the category.
What sizes of well plugs are available?
We stock well plugs from 3/4" up to 8", including 1", 1.25", 1.5", 2", 3", 4", 5", and 6" sizes in both SCH 40 and SCH 80 versions. The plug is sized to the nominal pipe diameter of your casing, so confirm both the size and the schedule before ordering.
What size are monitoring well casings?
Most monitoring wells are completed with 2" or 4" SCH 40 PVC casing — 2" is the workhorse for groundwater sampling, while 4" allows larger pumps and equipment. Observation and vapor wells sometimes run smaller (3/4" to 1.5"). Match your plug to the casing's nominal size and schedule for a proper seal.
How much does a well plug cost?
Our well plugs run from about $3 for small basic plugs up to around $190 for the largest locking models. A typical 2" locking Torquer plug falls in the low-to-mid range, so securing an entire monitoring network is usually a modest line item on a remediation budget.
What's the difference between a well plug and a well cap?
A plug seals from the inside by expanding a gasket against the pipe's interior wall, sitting flush or below the casing top. A well cap fits over the outside of the pipe and is quicker to remove for routine sampling. Choose a plug for paved areas or when the spec calls for an internal expansion seal.
Do well plugs fit both SCH 40 and SCH 80 pipe?
No. SCH 80 pipe has a thicker wall and smaller internal diameter than SCH 40 at the same nominal size, so a plug made for one schedule will not seal correctly in the other. Check the product title for the schedule and verify your casing before ordering.
Can well plugs be locked?
Yes. Torquer plugs accept a standard padlock or lockout tag through a locking eyelet, which supports chain-of-custody documentation at regulated sites. FlushLock, J-Plug, and H-Plug designs use proprietary keys instead — useful where a protruding padlock isn't practical or where you want key-controlled access across a site.
